‘SVU’ Fans, You’re Not Ready for Mariska Hargitay’s Shocking Career Announcement

The long-running TV star has a new role on Broadway.

Mariska Hargitay is taking her epic acting career to a new place.

For the last three decades, fans of the actress have loyally tuned in to see her as Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU. And while she’s typically stuck to television, Mariska has always shared her love for theater and Broadway. In fact, she’s even expressed a dream to make an all-female version of the hit musical Hamilton.

While that particular goal may be on hold for now, it looks like her hopes of appearing on the Great White Way are soon to become a reality. On March 30, Mariska announced she will make her Broadway debut in the one-person play Every Brilliant Thing. Her first performance will be on May 26, 2026, at the Hudson Theatre.

“Here we go @brilliantbway I’m thinking about Every Brilliant Thing on BroadWAY,” she wrote in the caption on Instagram.

Fans couldn’t help but celebrate alongside her.

“MARISKA!!! Could not be more thrilled for you!! And what a perfect show for your debut! Can’t wait to see 🫶🏻🫶🏻,” one person exclaimed in the comments.

“Some people retire at 62—then there’s super women like you who are just getting started ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥,” another wrote.

“I’m so excited for this! Congratulations, Mariska. 🥹❤️ You really said 60s is going to be your best decade yet, and you have been killing it!!” a different follower added.

Every Brilliant Thing features a narrator who “looks back at life and the glimmers of hope that carried him [or her] through,” according to the show’s official website. With the help of the audience, the story is told by way of “a list of every wonderful, beautiful, and delightful thing—big, small, and everything in between—that makes life worth living.”

Actor Daniel Radcliffe is currently starring in the role Mariska will take on, with his final performance set for May 24, 2026.
