The Mandalorian Star Reveals Why Din Djarin Kept His Helmet on in Season 3

The Din Djarin actor gave his thoughts on the controversial decision in season 3 of The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian actor Brendan Wayne has revealed why Din Djarin opted to keep his helmet on for the entirety of the third season.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Wayne was asked why Djarin’s face wasn’t shown in season 3. “If [Din Djarin] kept his helmet off after [the season 2 finale], it cheapens what he did when he said goodbye to Grogu,” Wayne said. “When Grogu puts his hand up and says, ‘Hey, take that off, I wanna see you.’ That doesn’t mean as much. It’s like saying ‘I love you,’then you hear your significant other saying it to everybody, and you’re like, what value does that have? That was his love letter to him.”

Wayne played the physical version of The Mandalorian for the entirety of season 3, alongside Lateef Crowder. Pedro Pascal provided the voice of the character as usual, but was unable to be on set as he was filming The Last of Us at the same time. The decision to have Din Djarin go back to not showing his face was a controversial one, with many fans believing that the character’s arc regressed in season 3 rather than moving forward.
