Since Chris Meloni’s return to the Dick Wolf-produced franchise via Law & Order: Organized Crime, there has been eager anticipation about the possible reunion between Benson and Stabler. Several years after their first entanglement in a decade, there’s still no concrete path forward for their romance.
Now, a report from Variety reveals that NBC is breaking up the Law & Order Thursday block by moving Law & Order: Organized Crime to a midseason premiere. What Organized Crime’s New Schedule Means For The Law & Order Franchise
Before both shows go into their mandatory summer hiatus, NBC is staging a big crossover send-off for Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime. Kelli Giddish’s return as Amanda Rollins has been pivotal in the special event. While everyone seems to be focused on the case at hand, it isn’t wrong to expect that there will be some significant development in Benson and Stabler’s brewing romance.
Regardless of what happens to the pair in the upcoming Law & Order franchise season finale, this means that it will be a while before it gets an actual resolution. Considering the limited screen time, it’s unlikely that the NBC franchise can come up with a satisfying resolution with regard to the complicated dynamic.
