Ice-T reveals his future on “Law & Order: SVU” and it’s contingent on one of his cast members.
PauseRewind’s Kevin Zelman caught up with Ice-T while he was promoting the new Fox game show that he’s participating in, “Nation’s Dumbest.”
Mariska Hargitay has been a staple on TV for as long as we can remember, and when she was just announced as the host of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, we had to find out if her co-star of over 25 years knew before the news broke.
“It’s the Emmys. She’s won a couple Emmys. Now she’s on Broadway doing her show, and I’m just happy for her,” Ice-T told Zelman. “And she’s the longest-running actress in television history. It’s only right. She’ll do a great job. I’m just proud of Mariska. She’s a sweetheart.”
He continued, “She’s incredible. So she doesn’t need any luck.”
When asked how long he sees himself a part of the “L&O” family, he explains how he was never meant to be there this long
“I went on the show to do four episodes, and now we’re on season 28.” Ice continued, “Let’s put it like this: I’ll be on the show as long as Mariska is. I think we might do 30 seasons. It’s cool. It’s a fun show.”
So once “Law & Order: SVU” hits 30 seasons, we will have to see if Olivia Benson and Fin Tutuola turn in their badges.
In the meantime, catch Ice-T on “Nation’s Dumbest,” which “follows celebrities competing in school-themed challenges where their goal is to avoid last place. Each week, the smartest graduates take a final exam which determines who earns the unwanted title of Nation’s Dumbest.”
