Coronation Street fans have issued a plea over Gail Platt’s exit as she was seen deciding it was time for pastures new during the latest trip to Weatherfield.
As fans of the ITV soap know, Gail will soon be waving goodbye to her family as she leaves the cobbles after 50 years. Acting legend Helen Worth decided to bow out of the role after celebrating five decades on the show earlier this year and her exit will air this Christmas.
But as Corrie viewers also know, there is never a dull moment in the Platt household, but with Gail due her fairytale ending on Christmas Day, will the warring Platt family allow Gail and Jesse their winter wonderland wedding or will family feuds put a stop to Gail riding off into the sunset with her sixth husband?
Jesse Chadwick recently suggested to Gail that they should purchase a villa in France and start a new life there. Gail initially resisted the idea of moving, suggesting they should opt for a new build near the Red Rec, meaning she’d be closer to the Platt clan.
However, during Monday night’s (December 9) Corrie, Gail had a change of heart. In the scenes, Gail observed her neighbours from a distance and as she stood outside her home, which was already put up for sale earlier in the year, she said: “Life goes on and I think I’m ready now to take that step,” before instructing him to put an offer on a villa.
And the thought of Gail soon saying farewell is getting Corrie fans emotional – and also hoping for a happy ending. @tracy.c70 said: “Please give Helen Worth the exit storyline she so well deserves, as her character Gail she has been absolutely tremendous with so many laughs along the way.”

It comes after a new ITV promo released on Monday (December 9) revealed that behind the smiles of the stylish new Platt family photo, Gail’s plan to marry Jesse on Christmas Day and swap the cobbles of Coronation Street for the boulevards of France is going to be anything but plain sailing.
She is unaware of secrets her offspring are keeping and “ticking time bombs” she is leaving behind and the broadcaster also said “lies and betrayal” look set to destroy Gail’s son David Platt’s marriage with Shona, after she secretly slept with detective Kit Green, with David coming under pressure from the Radcliffe brothers to return money he stole.
