‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 27 Sneak Peek Reveals a Dramatic Twist in 1 Woman’s Abduction [Exclusive]

Law & Order Thursdays continue, and that includes a new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit this week. Tomorrow’s episode of the Mariska Hargitay-led crime drama is titled “Feed the Craving.” The episode marks the first full episode with Kelli Giddish back as a series regular playing Sgt. Amanda Rollins. Now Collider is unveiling an exclusive sneak peek ahead of the episode.

In our sneak peek, Rollins and Captain Renee Curry (Aimé Donna Kelly) are looking through the belongings of the abducted victim. When they hear a key in the door, it’s revealed to be the woman they thought had been kidnapped in active labor. The pair quickly gets her in an ambulance, with the victim protesting that she doesn’t trust a doctor at a certain hospital before she’s taken away, further deepening the mystery. The logline for the episode is as follows:

“When a woman in active labor is abducted, Rollins and Curry look to her doula for an account of events. Carisi tries to get a confession in front of the jury.”

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 27 Continues to Challenge the Team in New Ways

With the show’s first female showrunner, Michele Fazekas, at the helm, Fazekas is looking to shake things up. Those changes have already begun with the death of Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) in the Season 27 opener “In the Wind.” Other changes include not only Chief Tynan’s presence, but the way in which she leads. She’s far more hands-on than Benson has seen in quite some time, and is actively vying for Olivia to, ironically, take a much more hands-off role in a Deputy Chief position.

During a dinner in last week’s episode, Tynan commented on just how often Olivia is out in the field, something that’s abnormal for an NYPD Captain (something fans have consistently noticed, too). Olivia’s response, of course, was that that’s where the victims are, which means she’s needed there. But as Fazekas said in an interview, Tynan’s presence, possibly among other things, is something for Captain Benson to “push against.” She says the show will be “giving some challenges to Benson that she hasn’t had in a while.” And with the consistent ratings, even as other networks begin their seasons, SVU continues to show that the formula of new challenges seems to be working.
