It is such an incredible team, and we rely so much on each other. We’re a unit. It’s so sacred to me.”

While the verdict was less than ideal, the episode’s bloody end ultimately provided a morbid sense of justice to the victim.
We are mere weeks away from Season 27’s finale, and with news of Season 28’s renewal for NBC’s 2026-2027 season, Hargitay’s beloved Benson isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
“It totally feels crazy. I’m in denial about it,” Hargitay told Interview Magazine while reflecting on Benson’s multi-decade evolution. “I feel a little bit like I woke up one day, and it was 25 years later. That’s been the gift of the character — she has evolved so much, going from detective to sergeant to lieutenant, and here I am now as captain, which is a completely new skill set from being a detective.'”
