Boba Fett Star Says He “Never Got The Call” for Mandalorian Season 3, But Hopes to Be in The Movie

Temuera Morrison believes that he was meant to appear in the third season of The Mandalorian, but never got a call.

Many Star Wars fans didn’t quite enjoy The Book of Boba Fett as much as they expected to. Having been a huge character in the Star Wars franchise, despite having only limited screen time in the original trilogy, it seemed like giving the bounty hunter his own Disney+ show was a guaranteed winner. When that show came to an end, many people expected Fett’s story to continue in The Mandalorian season 3, and it seems that included Boba Fett himself – actor Temuera Morrison.

Speaking recently at the SUPANOVA Comic Con & Gaming convension (via ComicBook.com), Morrison revealed that his absence from the latest season of the Pedro Pascal-led show was surprising to him as much as anyone. He explained:

“I was supposed to be in The Mandalorian Season 3 but nobody rang me. I was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up. Well that Mando guy stole a few chapters of my book… I’m sure this guy is… ah… ruining my show. But I couldn’t say anything. I’m not the writer, so I have to bear it I guess.”

Morrison’s comments are not quite as abrasive as they maybe sound, as the actor is known for his humorous appearances on many Star Wars panels. At the time of the series airing, many fans claimed that the appearance of Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett ultimately saved the show from falling completely flat, but Fett’s story was clearly left open to continue in future. Now Morrison is hoping that happens in the upcoming Mandalorian movie.

When Will Boba Fett Return to Star Wars?

There are still a number of opportunities for Morrison to make another appearance as Boba Fett in the coming years. It is unlikely that he will have a role to play in this year’s Aksoka series, but there is always season 4 of The Mandalorian and potentially more to come before Dave Filoni’s newly announced movie wraps up the era of The M andalorian. When it comes to that movie, Morrison really hopes he will be a part of what he believes is a Star Wars version of an Avengers cross-over event. He told Dextero

“There was talk at the recent Celebration…they were getting a group together. It sounds a bit like Avengers if you ask me. I guess with [Jon Favreau’s] experience making Iron Man, subsequently the Marvel Universe exploded… so it would be the logical thing for them to do.”

The Mandalorian era of Star Wars seems to be heading towards a conclusion, although whether that will be the actual end of this part of the saga is still unclear. While it would be nice to see Boba Fett returning one more time, whether he has a place in the story is something that only Dave Filoni knows for now and the rest of us, and Temuera Morrison it seems, will have to wait to find out.
