Coronation Street called out for ‘forgetting’ a pretty big storyline
Coronation Street fans have expressed their dismay at a seemingly ‘forgotten’ link between Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) and Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan).
The troubled teen has been mentored by Stu in recent months, which in turn has driven the chef out of Weatherfield.
Actor Bill Fellows’ final episode aired last night, with the character moving to Germany.
Despite their close interactions on screen, neither of them addressed a glaringly obvious connection that harks back to last year.
For a while, Stu’s granddaughter Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) lived with him and Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) at No. 6. The harmonious living arrangements didn’t last long when she revealed that she wanted to get to know her birth father, something which Stu strong opposed.
On one occasion, her dad Dom failed to show up for a planned visit at the precinct. Eliza was devastated, and Stu shouted off about how untrustworthy he could be – and noted how he mustn’t really care for his daughter.
When she ran off, Stu ran after her to try and make amends, but a speeding car raced round the corner, slamming Eliza to the ground with its wing mirror and knocking her out cold.
It was later revealed that Mason was the one who was driving the car.
It became almost a certainty that the incident would be addressed in the lead up to Stu’s exit, though that wasn’t to be.
Does anyone remember last year when Mason hit Stu's granddaughter Eliza with a car? Because it seems that Corrie didn't. After 3 months of Stu and Mason building a friendship, you'd think that it'd have come up. Now, with Stu gone, I must ask what the point of all that was? pic.twitter.com/reaJsWhwpU

‘Does anyone remember last year when Mason hit Stu’s granddaughter Eliza with a car?’ asked one fan last night on X.
‘Because it seems that Corrie didn’t. After 3 months of Stu and Mason building a friendship, you’d think that it’d have come up. Now, with Stu gone, I must ask what the point of all that was?’
Another fan replied: ‘The whole storyline with Eliza confused me, because it felt like they were setting up one thing, and then it went in kind of the worst possible direction.’
‘Stu leaving today? They’ll never properly reveal that Mason knocked over Eliza in Ty’s car’ said one.
It now seems that the dilemma may never be addressed!
