Coronation Street set to ‘bring back’ icon 33 years after first episode

Fans believe a cobbles icon could be returning to the soap
Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve figured out what Lou Michaelis has in store for Gary Windass, and it’s not looking rosy
Earlier this year Lou (played by Farrel Hegarty) burst onto the scene, arriving on the cobbles with her dodgy husband Mick (played by Joe Layton).
Since moving into Mawdsley Street, the couple quickly stirred up drama, despite forming a bond with locals Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).
This month saw the tragic fatal attack of Weatherfield icon Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) by Mick, in a drunken rage, revealing that Mick is also abusive towards Lou.
Now, with Mick behind bars, mother-of-three Lou has stayed in the neighbourhood, much to the dismay of other residents, writes Leicestershire Live.
Now, viewers are speculating about a potential affair between Lou and Gary Windass (Mikey North), who has connections with Mick, after the pair have been getting quite chummy lately.
In Wednesday’s (June 11) episode, Lou visited Mick in prison, confessing her struggles of trying to keep the family afloat financially.
Mick’s response was: “So get your mother to sell one of her Landos or whatever they are,” hinting at Lou’s previously unmentioned wealthy mother.
Now, viewers are buzzing with excitement trying to figure out Lou’s mum’s identity on Coronation Street, suspecting she might be a Weatherfield icon.
Fans have taken to social media to speculate that Denise Osbourne, played by Denise Black, could be the mysterious mother.
On a Corrie Facebook fan group, one viewer speculated: “Did anyone else hear Mick mention Lou’s mum? Apparently she’s loaded…”
Another added their two cents: “Watch her turn out to be Denise Osbourne!”
Whilst a third excitedly posted: “Ken’s ex? I would love this.”
Denise Osbourne quickly became a fan-favourite character after first gracing the cobbles in 1992. Her plotlines were dominated by her romantic entanglements with Ken Barlow (William Roache) and her role as Daniel’s (Rob Mallard) mother.
Although she left in 1997, Denise made memorable returns in 2007 and 2017.
