Coronation Street star gets married weeks after ITV soap exit and shares stunning snap

Coronation Street star Ciaran Griffiths, who played Damon Hay on the ITV soap, has married his partner and shared a lovely snap from their wedding in Australia

Coronation Street star Ciaran Griffiths has tied the knot with his girlfriend in an Australian ceremony and shared a glimpse of the special day with a lovely photo.

The actor, who played Damon Hay on the ITV soap, updated his social media profile with a stunning new picture that shows the newlyweds blissfully posing on a boat with the iconic Sydney Opera House in the background.

In the picture, Ciaran wears a pale blue blazer with a white shirt and navy trousers, while his stunning bride donned a beautiful lace gown.

The 41 year old, who is originally from Manchester, now calls Australia home along with his wife and son. He has previously spoken about the challenges of being away while filming.

“It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now, he understands a bit more so I don’t feel as guilty leaving him, even though I’m doing it for them anyway,” he shared with ITV.

Ciaran also joked about the British weather taking its toll on him: “But the weather’s terrible, I’m never ill in Australia, yet I get here and straight away I’ve got a cold.”

His journey Down Under began in 2019 when he travelled for a theatre gig, only to fall in love and make the sunny shores his permanent residence.

His wedding comes after Ciaran’s dramatic departure from Corrie, where he left fans reeling after his character Damon called it quits with Sarah Barlow, played by Tina O’Brien, and exited the show to keep her family safe.

In his emotional final scenes last month, Damon made the tough decision during a poignant prison visit with Sarah, reports the Mirror.

In a unique twist, he broke the news to her face-to-face noting: “I don’t want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face, we’re finished. I’m doing you a massive favour. You turned my world upside down but if I loved you, properly loved you, I wouldn’t have done the stuff I’ve done. You’ve got to walk away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye, Sarah.”

However, he could reprise his role in the future as Ciaran has previously shared that his character loves the idea of making Weatherfield his permanent home.

Away from Coronation Street, Ciarán has also appeared in shows such as City Road, The Bill, Holby City, Waterloo Road, and EastEnders.

The actor is also most-likely best known for his starring role of Mickey Maguire in Channel 4 series of Shameless.
