End of the road ‘confirmed’ for Coronation Street couple as they call it quits
Beth Sutherland (Lisa George) has been playing a dangerous game on Coronation Street recently, as she embarked on a money-making scheme.
She was using the factory after hours to manufacture T shirts to sell as a sideline, which Carla Connor (Alison King) soon discovered.
In upcoming episodes it’s not Carla but dodgy cop Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) who proves to be Beth’s nemesis.
Kit has been targeting Beth’s son Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), and recently decided he wanted in on the counterfeit T shirt trade. As a police officer, he knows exactly how to threaten and manipulate people to get exactly what he wants.
Beth becomes furious when she spots her partner in crime Sid selling their T shirts in the precinct, knowing that he’s cut her out of the deal and he’s keeping all the profits for himself. As she looks on, she’s shocked to see Kit arrive.
Kit isn’t about to lose his grip on the lucrative business and he decides to get rid of Beth.
In this new video, Kit approaches Beth in the cafe and hands her some cash. Explaining it’s a ‘parting gift’, Kit tells Beth that she’s a ‘liability’ and he cannot risk her staying in Weatherfield anymore.
‘Sling ya hook by the end of the week, or I’ll be reporting your little boy’s little secret to my big bosses’, he warns.
Viewers have previously seen Kit extracting information from Craig. During an apparently friendly drinking session at the Rovers, Craig was soon being a bit loose-lipped about Beth’s criminal activities, and how he previously covered up a crime for someone he loved.
He was referring to the time he saved Faye (Ellie Leach) and Emma (Alexandra Mardell) from prison over the car accident that killed an old man.
This is enough to end Craig’s career and most likely send him to prison. Beth knows that Kit is serious in his threats and she’s prepared to leave, but there’s one thing stopping her – Kirk (Andrew Whyment).
He admits to her that he can’t live without her and even enlists their dog, Peanut, who’s wearing a cute little neckerchief saying ‘Marry me?’
Can Beth possibly resist an offer like that? But, on the other hand, if she stays in Weatherfield with Kirk she knows that Kit will have no hesitation in carrying out his threat.
With recent reports that Lisa George was quitting her role after 13 years of playing Beth, it looks like this might be the end for Kirk and Beth, one of the Street’s most enduring couples and firm fan favourites.
