The Witcher is a fantasy drama TV series on Netflix based on Andrzej Sapkowski‘s book series of the same name. The show has received mixed reviews, mostly positive, that’s why many are looking forward to the next season. It has been nearly two years since The Witcher Season 3 was released and fans are still waiting for the next one. One of the stars who just joined the show gave an update about the series.

Laurence Fishburne is one of the new faces in The Witcher Season 4. He was cast to play Regis, a fan-favorite character introduced in the third book “Baptism of Fire.” He is a higher vampire who is incredibly powerful, intelligent, and indestructible. He is skilled in medicine and anatomy and can blend into human society without needing to feed on blood to survive. He recently spoke with Collider to promote his new film The Amateur with co-star Rami Malek and he was asked about The Witcher. He gave a positive update about the beloved show, saying they were working on Season 5. However, he asked fans to be “patient” with them. Fishburne said:

Fishburne’s casting for The Witcher Season 4 made headlines in January. Netflix kept the nature of his character covert by simply describing Regis as “a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in season 4.” However, those who read Sapkowski’s books and know about Regis love the character. Fishburne was ecstatic to be part of the show. According to him, he was “very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.” Fishburne confirms his return to The Witcher Season 5, so fans will see more of him after the fourth season. The actor also expressed his interest in reprising his role as the Bowery King in John Wick 5 after the fifth movie was confirmed. Fishburne is a great actor, so seeing him in John Wick 5 and The Witcher Season 5 will be a delight.

Fishburne’s addition in The Witcher Season 4 is among the things fans are looking forward to. Aside from portraying a beloved character, Fishburne is a great actor. Also, there’s a mixed opinion about the upcoming season because Season 4 will feature Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia following Henry Cavill’s departure from the show. Some fans are skeptical about Hemsworth taking over the lead role because of their attachment to Cavill’s portrayal. However, the Man of Steel star expressed support for Hemsworth and even endorsed him publicly when he announced his exit from the series on Instagram. Meanwhile, fantasy author Brandon Sanderson, who penned The Final Empire, The Way of Kings, Warbreaker, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, and Words of Radiance, claimed that Netflix made a mistake by not listening to Cavill. Sanderson described the former The Witcher star as a “visionary.” However, the production allegedly didn’t listen to him. Cavill left the show after three seasons due to its demanding schedule. However, there were rumors that he had a different vision for his character and did not align with the show’s direction.
