ITV Coronation Street fans slam David Platt’s ‘mistake’ as they ‘work out’ house twist

Coronation Street viewers were quick to slam David Platt’s ‘mistake’ after Monday’s episode as they rumbled a house twist which will mean bad news for the cobbles hairdresser

Coronation Street aired an explosive twist on Monday night as David Platt was revealed to be the money thief.

Only recently, a fresh mystery emerged on the cobbles, following the disappearance of Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) funds intended for Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

Audiences may remember that not so long ago, Sarah’s daughter, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), narrowly escaped death after a botched plastic surgery procedure in Turkey, which led to her needing a stoma bag. Bethany failed to disclose the surgery to her travel insurance, leaving her stuck in Turkey until she could settle her medical expenses.

Upon hearing the news, Sarah’s former partner, Damon, left her a voicemail from jail, suggesting she use his hidden money to cover Bethany’s medical costs. However, Sarah couldn’t access her voicemail from Turkey, and while awaiting news from a loan company, she asked her ex-husband, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), to check the messages.

Adam was taken aback when he heard Damon’s message. He didn’t inform Sarah but instead confided in Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). As he was sharing the news with Daniel, returning character Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) approached and began conversing with Adam.

Later, Adam chose to reveal the truth to Sarah, who then contacted Damon, asserting she had only just discovered about the money. However, her ex was puzzled as he disclosed that his associate had inspected the lock-up only to find the cash gone, sparking a new whodunnit.

Sarah alleged Adam was behind Damon’s missing cash from the storage, but he vehemently denied involvement, clearing both his and Daniel’s name. Sarah then accused Jesse of stealing the cash but on Monday night it was revealed that her brother David was the true money thief.

It’s likely David stole the cash in order to buy his mother Gail Platt’s, (Helen Worth), home as she put it up for sale to pay off granddaughter Bethany’s medical bills.

However, soap watchers were quick to spot a ‘mistake’ in David’s masterplan as they took to Twitter, now X, to share their thoughts.

One person said: “DAVID! ohh dear!!!!! he’s got the money not sure you can buy the house with that. do you? #corrie”, a different account wrote: “Surely, Gail would ask more than 50 grand for the house” while another added: “#corrie I did have a slight feeling David had the money. What will he do with it? Buy the house back?”
