Laurence Fishsburne’s The Witcher Role Revealed in New Season 4 Set Images

Laurence Fishburne is joining Netflix’s The Witcher universe, and the first set photos have been leaked showing the actor’s appearance and revealing his role. Production is currently underway on the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher. Based on the novels by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski, Fishburne is joining Liam Hemsworth as the newcomers to Season 4, with Hemsworth taking over from Henry Cavill in the show’s leading role, Geralt of Rivia.

A video by UnBoxPHD features several set photos of Fishburne in character on the set of The Witcher. Fishburne’s look in the show may surprise audiences who know the actor best for his work in The Matrix or John Wick franchises. Sporting long, graying hair, and a medieval-style jerkin, Fishburne will be playing Regis, who is expected to be a major character in The Witcher’s final two seasons. You can check out Fishburne on The Witcher set below.

For those unaware, Regis is a vampire who Geralt and his traveling group meet on their long journey to rescue Ciri (Freya Allen) from Nilfgaard. Despite his innate lust for blood, Regis is a recovering blood-addict, only drinking the blood of animals. Regis becomes a valuable ally for Geralt and his team, as Regis’ form of vampire (known in the franchise as Higher Vampires) are among the most powerful beings on The Continent – and arguably more powerful than Geralt.

Details about how Regis will fit into Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher currently remain unknown. The show has been criticized by fans of the books for making numerous changes to the source material and it is possible that Netflix’s iteration of Regis could differ greatly from the one found in the books or the video games.

Netflix’s The Witcher Will End with Season 5

Two more seasons of Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation are currently in the works, and the streamer have announced that the show will end after its fifth season. No doubt this is, at least in part, because of losing Henry Cavill in the titular role. After playing Geralt of Rivia for three seasons of the series, Cavill stepped away from the role following the third season. The actor hasn’t stated any official reason, but fans have speculated that it is due to creative differences because of the show’s changes to the books.

fan base. The Witcher fans stand strong in their belief that the show ended when Henry Cavill left, writing off Hemsworth before he’s even had a chance to perform. Hemsworth’s new co-star, Freya Allen, has defended the casting decision, and hopes that the disgruntled side of the fan base will give Hemsworth a chance when Season 4 is eventually released. Allen said:

“He’s been training. I feel sorry for him, honestly, because, number one, that fan base can be very attack-y, and it’s not an ideal situation to be in taking up someone else’s role. I just hope that people give him the time of day, you know?”

No official release date has been announced for The Witcher’s upcoming fourth season, but it is expected to debut in 2025. In the meantime, fans have finally gotten their first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt in an official teaser.
