“He Can’t Hold Himself Together”: ‘The Mandalorian’s Brendan Wayne Reveals Exactly Why Din Djarin Can’t Lead Mandalore

We’re now more than two years removed from what might be the final season of The Mandalorian, and although there may not be another season of the Disney+ show, the story of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu is far from over. The Mandalorian & Grogu will make the hyperspace jump into theaters next year on May 22, and it will pick up after the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 finale, which sees Din and Grogu retire to Nevarro after helping establish a community there.

Although Pedro Pascal is known as The Mandalorian, other stars are equally important in bringing Din Djarin to life. One of those stars is Brendan Wayne, who, more often than not, is the one inside the suit. Pascal may be the voice, but Wayne portrays all of Din’s movements and body language. Wayne recently sat down for an interview on The Sackhoff Show, which is hosted by his Mandalorian co-star Katee Sackhoff, and he revealed why Din and Grogu decided to settle on Nevarro instead of returning to Mandalore with the other Mandalorians.

“He’s not willing to lead, because he doesn’t have the capacity to be able to hold all of them together, because he can’t hold himself together.”

This all ties back to Din Djarin being more of a lone ranger than a leader. He never felt comfortable with the dark saber, particularly with his stint in The Book of Boba Fett, and he ultimately passed it onto Bo-Katan (Sackhoff) before it was destroyed by Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in The Mandalorian Season 3. However, this also signifies that the people of Mandalore need to move past looking to the same relics for leadership and guidance that have landed them in trouble over the years. Bo is a good fit to be a leader because of the person she is, not the weapon on her hip.

Is Brendan Wayne in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’?

Although Brendan Wayne is not currently listed on the call sheet for The Mandalorian & Grogu, he is expected to reprise his role as the one inside the suit physically playing Din Djarin. Pedro Pascal will also be back voicing the character, and several other stars have also been recruited for roles in the 2026 Star Wars film. Avatar and Alien veteran Sigourney Weaver has been tapped to play a pilot, and the first footage of her character was shown to fans in attendance at Star Wars Celebration. The Bear star Jeremy Allen White will also play Jabba the Hutt’s ripped son, Rotta the Hutt, along with Jonny Coyne, who will portray an Imperial figure.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are now streaming on Disney+, and The Mandalorian & Grogu will hit theaters on May 22, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more Star Wars updates.
