Some Preparations Are Underway for The Witcher Season 4

Season 3 of The Witcher has come and gone, and now the question is what is happening with Season 4 amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The new season that will see Liam Hemsworth replace Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia has been in the works for some time now, but the strikes paused that process. Still, some work is still being done on it.

Prepping for The Witcher Season 4

While no writing or acting-related work can be done on the new season, that doesn’t mean other departments can’t work at all. Thus, some preparations are well underway for The Witcher Season 4 at Longcross Studios. So the studio isn’t all abandoned and deserted during the strikes.

It isn’t full pre-production yet, but something on a smaller scale. As far as we last heard, there isn’t a concrete date set for a full pre-production, but there is hope for the strikes to end soon and for work to fully begin by the end of the year.

The latest on that front is that the WGA and AMPTP are planning to get back to negotiations next week. We’ll see how it goes.

As for when filming for Season 4 might begin, back in July we reported that it would be sometime in 2024. Now, in September, that still seems to be the case. Even if strikes end tomorrow, it wouldn’t be too realistic to expect for pre-production to get everything ready for a 2023 filming start.

Regarding casting for Season 4, we know South African actor Sharlto Copley has already been cast as the ruthless bounty hunter named Leo Bonhart. Plus, we have an audition for Zoltan Chivay and information that they were looking for a big name for Regis.

The Witcher Season 3 is available on Netflix with The Rats prequel in post-production and The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime by Studio Mir is far in production. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence and do pop into our Discord server to join in on The Witcher conversation.
