Law & Order fans, it looks like Elliot Stabler has officially left the TV building…for now.

Ever since Christopher Meloni started playing Stabler in 1999, fans have adored seeing him be part of the Law & Order franchise. Shortly after the news broke, Chris went on Instagram on April 16 to share his thoughts on the big news. As he emotionally thanked fans for their support, the video he posted seemingly implied this was the end of the road for Stabler.

“Hey everyone, I just saw that they announced OC, Organized Crime, won’t be coming back,” he stated. “So I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans, who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back … It was a good ride, I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride, but thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of. Nearly 17 odd years.”
